Product of the Week: Zombie Soldier T-shirt

There will be no peace in this world unless militaries are abolished. Doing so may be in creating imagery that villainizes the military contrary to the glorifying images we're so used to seeing.

The shirt comes in a multitude of colors and is available for purchase from my cafepress shop for 7 days only.

Documentation: EXPRESSÕES DA REVOLUÇÃODE, PORTO ALEGRE, BRASIL

Demétrio Portugal has sent me some really great photos documenting the Expressoes Da Revolucaode exhibition in Porto Alegre, Brazil. This is actually the second edition of the Expressoes show which took place from June 13 to July 14 and featured the work of the late Ahmed Bassiouny (2011 Venice biennale piece), Aalam Wassef (Ahmad Sherif internet videos), Mohamed Allam (Fluttering Selfhoods short film new directors compilation), myself, along a film festival with an axis about the Arab Spring besides several other manifestations contextualizing the importance of artistic expression in the midst of the revolution. Shady El Noshokaty made an appearance there and gave a talk as well. My contribution to the show included reproductions of a lot of "protest art" I created over the past year.

The show was meticulously put together by Demétrio PortugalAll photographs below were taken by Milenka Salinas.

Product of the Week: Vankh Amun Shirt

A pop cultural symbol of rebellion meets the Egyptian revolution with this "Vankh Amun" design, which has been seen adorning the walls of Cairo over the past year.

Collaborating with Tunisian calligraffitist eL Seed on the design, who quotes Iraqi-Canadian hip-hopper The Narcicyst with his calligraphic masterpiece completes the piece. The calligraphy translates to: "For a long time walls were shuttered windows. They were prisons, through which no color, shape or word could escape."
