Slip of the Tongue Promotional Imagery + Facebook
I put together a little promotional image for my upcoming exhibition "Slip of the Tongue / زلة لسان", which is part of a group show titled Why Not? featuring up to 45 artists at the Palace of the Arts on the Cairo Opera House grounds on the 7th of February.

And of course there's the obligatory Facebook event page with all the details.
I decided to use my underdeveloped Shatana typeface for the type on the poster, because of its unique calligraphic qualities, which also came in handy when designing the identity for the Farah El Bahr festival.

Ramona Fan Art
I had to do a lot of waiting today, so I did a little sketch of Ramona, a character from one of the most enjoyable comics I've ever read, Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life, a comic that creator Bryan Lee O'Malley made sure it drips with awesome ooze.
While listening to a podcast interview with Bryan on War Rocket Ajax, I was inspired enough to do a more finished vector illustration based on the sketch, but one that looks a lot more like O'malley's Ramona.

I can't belive I haven't read any of the other Scott Pilgrim volumes yet; four other volumes of the epic graphic novel series are already out, but I'm wondering if all volumes will be collected into a mega volume once the sixth and final volume is out later this year.
If not I have no problem buying all the volumes at once and giving them a read before watching the upcoming movie, which from still + behind the scene footage, will sure as hell be a blast, even with Michael Cera trying to pull off Scott Pilgrim.

Slip of the Tongue Promotional Spot
I put together a short little video the other day to promote my upcoming show: Slip of the Tongue (زلة لسان)

زلة لسان / Slip of the Tongue preparations
So there's this group exhibition at the Palace of the Arts at the Cairo Opera House on the 7th of February titled "Why Not?" (ليه لأ), where multiple generation artists are invited to participate with work out of their ordinary spectrum.
Based on a sketch I did a couple years ago, I'm doing an installation and group of paintings under the title of "Slip of the Tongue" (زلة لسان), which is a series dealing with... well, the tongue.
I came up with the idea to turn the entrance of my space at the Palace of the Arts into an open agonizing mouth, that you walk into. I'm still working out the kinks and not too sure if it'll work out, but I'm having fun with the idea anyway.

Gangsta Sketch
I finished writing the second draft of a long over-due feature screenplay I keep putting aside. I'm already writing the third draft (on and off) so it'll still probably be a good while before its ready, but I was so amped by my characters (hey, I can say that), that I did I quick little sketch of them in my sketchbook.

Shooting Alexandria
I head out to Alexandria for a day trip with my friend Chris Gibson a few days ago, pretty much walking around the city and snapping pictures like first-time tourists, which will always result in a nice bunch of pictures.

How To Cross a Street in Egypt
As performed by Christopher Gibson.
First, you wait, you wait for the perfect opportunity. Gotta keep your eye on the road, because a split second can make all the difference in the world.
